Bike Fitting
HPM’s Bike Fitting is a highly personalized service designed for competitive amateur cyclists or members of youth cycling teams who wish to maximize their performance, prevent injuries, and optimize comfort on the bike. Through a detailed analysis and the use of the most advanced technologies, we help each cyclist reach their full potential.
A Bike Fitting session lasts about 2 hours and is recommended both for those looking to purchase a custom-made new bike and for those who want to optimize the position on their current bike. Each step is carried out at HPM by qualified experts: Wladimir Belli, former professional cyclist; Giorgio Ripamonti, university lecturer and FIDAL coach; Martina Nobis, graduate in motor sciences, masseur, osteopath, and physiotherapy student.
The Phases of Bike Fitting
1. Initial Assessment
This phase involves gathering essential information about the cyclist’s physical condition, frequency of motor/sports activity, and specific goals. The assessment helps to identify any physical issues, previous injuries, and strengths to develop a tailored training plan. In this first phase, the cyclist’s anthropometric measurements are also recorded to adjust the bike’s parameters.
2. Bike Setup
Initially, we accurately evaluate and adjust the position of the cleats, pedals, saddle, and handlebars. Proper adjustment of the bike’s components ensures a more efficient pedal stroke and minimizes stress on the knees, back, and neck, thus improving athletic performance and comfort during physical activity.
3. Functional Evaluation:
After placing markers and biometric devices, we perform a functional evaluation to identify any misalignments or weaknesses, providing key information to verify the new posture and bike measurements.
4. FTP Test
To ensure a comprehensive analysis, we include an FTP (Functional Threshold Power) test, which assesses the theoretical power that can be sustained for one hour of effort. This test helps to define the various effort intensity zones and optimize and structure cycling outings and training sessions.
5. Data Analysis and Reporting
The data collected during the previous phases is analyzed to further personalize the training plan.
6. Massage Session
To complement the bike fitting, we offer a massage session to enhance physical recovery after the test, along with an initial osteopathic postural evaluation.
